The College of Education for Humanities is considered one of the great scientific beacons on the stage of culture, thought, and science. It is the educational and scientific institution dedicated to instilling human values, customs, and noble traditions, as well as extending national spirit and belonging in the hearts of its students as they will bring up the generations and be responsible for their education in secondary, intermediate, and preparatory schools, influencing society positively.
It is worth noting that the College of Education for Humanities is one of the leading colleges at the University of Diyala. It is the oldest and largest in terms of the number. It was established in (1994-1995) with three departments: “Department of Arabic Language, Department of English Language, Department of History,” followed by humanities and scientific departments, including department of educational and psychological sciences, , department of geography, department of Quranic sciences, department of computer science, department of chemistry, and department of Biology. Thus, the college departments were completed, and it gained independence from Al-Mustansiriya University after the establishment of the University of Diyala in the year (1998-1999). It is important to mention its contribution to the colleges that emerged from it, including the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, the College of Law, and the College of Education for Pure Sciences.
This college includes both morning and evening studies. The number of undergraduate students in it has reached 5373 students. As for postgraduate studies, there are sixteen programs starting with a high diploma and ending with a doctorate programs. The number of postgraduate students is 398. The number of college employees is 174, and the number of faculty members is 349, with 98 of them holding the scientific titles of professor and assistant professor. In the academic year 2007-2008, the College of Education was divided into two parts, with the first specializing in humanities and called as Al-Asmaʿi College of Education, and the second specializing in pure scientific studies and called as Al-Rāzī College of Education. In the academic year 2011-2012, the names of the Colleges of Education were unified, so the colleges that include humanities departments are called Colleges of Education for Humanities, and the colleges that include scientific departments are called Colleges of Education for Pure Sciences.
