A Brief History of the Establishment of the College of Education for Humanities
The College of Education for Humanities is one of the oldest and largest colleges at the University of Diyala. It was established in the academic year 1994-1995, initially comprising three departments: Arabic Language, English Language, and History. At the time, it was affiliated with Al-Mustansiriyah University. Over the years, the college expanded its academic and scientific departments, gained independence from Al-Mustansiriyah University, and introduced evening studies in the 1996-1997 academic year, beginning with the Arabic Language Department, followed by other departments.
Postgraduate studies commenced in the academic year 2000-2001, initially offering master’s programs. In 2010-2011, PhD programs were introduced. In 2007-2008, the College of Education was divided into two branches:
- College of Education Al-Asma’i, focusing on humanities.
- College of Education Al-Razi, focusing on scientific studies.
In the 2011-2012 academic year, the naming conventions of education colleges across Iraqi universities were unified, and the college was officially named the College of Education for Humanities.
The College of Education for Humanities stands as a significant academic institution in the realms of culture, thought, and science. It is committed to instilling human values and fostering a deep sense of patriotism in its students, who will serve as the educators and mentors responsible for shaping future generations in secondary schools
