Under the Patronage of the President of Diyala University, Professor Dr. Tahseen Hussein Mubarak, and the Supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, Professor Dr. Luay Saihoud Al-Tamimi, the College Hosts a Cultural Symposium Entitled “The Stars Illuminate Their Edges”
On the occasion of the opening of the college’s cultural season, the Department of Arabic organized a symposium entitled “The Stars Illuminate Their Edges” to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the martyrdom of his grandson Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), and to denounce the Zionist aggression against Gaza and Lebanon.
The symposium began with a recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by the reading of Surat Al-Fatiha for the souls of the martyrs of Iraq, Palestine, and Lebanon, as well as the late resistance leader. In his opening speech, the Dean, Professor Dr. Luay Saihoud Al-Tamimi, expressed that while this morning is tinged with sorrow, there is unwavering confidence in the ultimate triumph of free blood, even if delayed. He likened this enduring spirit to the ever-living sacrifice of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and the enduring legacy of his grandfather, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Al-Tamimi highlighted the importance of drawing inspiration from these commemorations to strengthen resolve and guide future endeavors with determination and steadfastness.
The cultural segment of the symposium featured poetry readings by Professor Dr. Hussein Ibrahim Mubarak, celebrating the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the martyrdom of his grandson Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
Following this, the scientific symposium commenced, chaired by Professor Dr. Maki Nouman Mathlom, novelist Thamer Kalaz, and Professor Dr. Ali Muteb Jassim. The discussions addressed three main themes:
- The historical life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
- The injustices faced by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
- Two critical analyses presented by Dr. Ali Muteb on eulogistic poetry.
At the conclusion of the symposium, the Dean expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the organizers and contributors by awarding certificates of appreciation and letters of acknowledgment.
