The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences was established in the academic year 1997–1998 to offer undergraduate studies. In the academic year 2000–2001, the Unit of Teaching Methods and University Qualification was established.

Postgraduate studies were introduced in the academic year 2002–2003 in two specializations: Educational Psychology and Educational Counseling. Subsequently, two additional specializations were introduced: Methods of Teaching Arabic Language and Methods of Teaching English Language.

Evening studies and the Educational Counseling Unit were established in the College in the academic year 2008–2009. Meanwhile, the Master’s program in Methods of Teaching History was introduced in the academic year 2009–2010.

More than 75 master’s theses have been completed in the Department across various specializations. The PhD program in Educational Psychology was introduced in the academic year 2011–2012, with the first cohort, followed by a second cohort. The students of the second cohort are currently in the thesis-writing stage.
