Under the patronage of the President of the University of Diyala, Professor Tahseen Hussein Mubarak, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, Professor Luay Saihood Al-Tamimi, the college held a dialogue seminar on strategies to combat all forms of racial discrimination from an academic perspective. The seminar was attended by representatives from the Diyala Operations Command of the Popular Mobilization Forces.
Professor Luay Saahood Al-Tamimi, the Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, opened the seminar with a speech in which he praised the organization of such awareness-raising events. He highlighted the importance of addressing racial discrimination in society and urged faculty and staff to maintain active participation in similar activities, emphasizing their role as vital sources of education and raising public awareness for all community members.
The seminar, led by Dr. Haider Al-Tamimi, explored the concept of racial discrimination as the preference of one individual over another, potentially due to sectarianism, which, although limited, still exists in some state institutions. It also addressed gender, color, and ethnic discrimination. Dr. Al-Tamimi explained strategies to confront such discrimination, including implementing justice among all groups, promoting both direct and indirect dialogue across social classes, respecting differing opinions, and avoiding slogans that emphasize or encourage discrimination.
