
The College of Education for Human Sciences organizes a scientific workshop on modern technologies in psychological counseling
The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences at the College of Education for Human Sciences, University of Diyala, organized a scientific workshop entitled “Modern Technologies in Psychological Counseling: Artificial Intelligence – Virtual Reality.” This workshop was held within the framework of the college’s endeavor to keep pace with modern scientific and technological developments and employ them in the educational and psychological fields, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 related to good health and well-being.The workshop, during which Dr. Abad Talib discussed the significant development witnessed in the field of psychological counseling in the modern era thanks to technological progress, addressed how modern technologies have contributed to improving methods of psychological treatment and making them more diverse and effective. The workshop highlighted the role of artificial intelligence in the early diagnosis of psychological disorders through the analysis of data extracted from smart applications and wearable devices, as well as its role in providing immediate emotional support through smart chat applications, analyzing conversations to identify behavioral and emotional patterns, and developing appropriate treatment strategiesThe workshop also discussed the uses of virtual reality in psychological counseling, particularly in treating anxiety and phobias through safe and controllable simulation environments, in addition to its role in treating psychological trauma by gradually reconstructing traumatic situations, as well as training in social skills for individuals suffering from social anxiety or difficulties interacting with others.The workshop concluded by addressing the most prominent challenges associated with the use of these modern technologies, such as ethical aspects and privacy protection, and the need to train specialists to use them optimally, emphasizing the importance of employing modern technology in a way that serves the mental health of society and contributes to achieving sustainable development in the educational and humanitarian fields.
