
College of Education for Humanities Holds Workshop on Sustainability Innovations for a Greener Future
The English Department at the College of Education for Humanities, University of Diyala, held a workshop entitled “Innovations in Sustainability: Building a Greener Future.” The workshop, presented by Assistant Lecturer Duha Ismail Khalil, was attended by faculty members and students and was part of the college’s scientific activities aimed at promoting environmental awareness and establishing the concepts of sustainable development within the academic community.At the beginning of the workshop, the lecturer emphasized that sustainability has become an urgent necessity imposed by contemporary environmental and economic challenges. She explained that building a green future requires employing technological innovations and smart solutions in various aspects of life, from energy management to sustainable urban planning, in order to achieve a balance between development and the protection of natural resources.The workshop covered several topics, including the transition to renewable energy and its storage technologies, green architecture based on environmentally friendly materials and energy-efficient designs, the circular economy based on recycling waste and converting it into useful resources, and supporting sustainable mobility and biotechnology as alternative solutions to environmentally harmful materials. The workshop’s themes are in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), in a clear affirmation of the college’s commitment to supporting scientific initiatives that contribute to building a more sustainable future.
