Since its establishment, the university has recognized the importance of scientific research and its role in developing the institution and its academic staff, considering that one of its missions is to pursue excellence, create a social incentive for research and discovery, and provide the necessary means to support these efforts. The university has given special attention to scientific research by establishing the Scientific Affairs Division, which has become responsible for supporting academic research as a fundamental objective of sustainable development and technological advancement.
The role played by the Division in disseminating human knowledge can be recognized through its continuous efforts to develop scientific activities locally and globally. The Division has focused extensively on improving its tools, as research encompasses various fields and specializations. It aims to assist faculty members in developing their scientific research, enhancing its quality, achieving international recognition, and contributing to the advancement of human knowledge.
To achieve these objectives, the Division provides researchers with the latest tools and programs required to produce research in the best possible form and ensure its broad utilization. While continuously seeking to improve its services, the Division strives to face future challenges with confidence through knowledge that enables ongoing achievements, relying on keeping pace with every advancement.
Scientific affairs in universities are considered among the most important means of improving the academic level of universities and are fundamental pillars for advancing scientific activities in the country, as they are responsible for overseeing and following up on these activities. Therefore, the Scientific Affairs Division has emerged as an academic body concerned with the aspects that contribute to the development of the university, teaching staff, and researchers. It also focuses on academic promotions for faculty members both within and outside the university through follow-up procedures and the printing of relevant books.
Furthermore, the Division seeks to issue instructions and regulations that organize cooperation with institutions within the governorate. It also supervises and monitors scientific publishing activities in Iraqi universities, including the publication of peer-reviewed scientific journals, research articles in international journals, and the accreditation of scientific journals for publication purposes. In addition, it addresses other scientific affairs such as scientific reports and the preparation of studies that broaden the scientific horizons of all higher education personnel.
Among the main units of the Scientific Affairs Division is the Scientific Outputs Unit, which aims to prepare memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements between universities and various state institutions in order to market research outputs and benefit from them across different scientific disciplines. The unit is also concerned with research planning through the Research Unit, beginning with the preparation of research plans and the regulations governing their registration until their completion.
Achieving the highest level of performance in carrying out the tasks of the college’s departments, enhancing the academic standard, and following up on the completion of all activities related to workshops, conferences, seminars, and discussion sessions held at the college, in accordance with the approved instructions and regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Enhancing and strengthening scientific research, encouraging and motivating teaching and research staff to improve the level of research activities at the college, and following up on distinguished intellectual outputs, including publications, patents, and other forms of outstanding achievements.
Following up on completed, planned, and published research plans and ensuring their completion.
Issuing scientific promotion endorsement letters and providing the necessary documents for applicants seeking academic promotion.
Circulating ministerial directives received through the University Presidency / Scientific Affairs Department, and monitoring their implementation procedures and responses.
Covering the conferences, seminars, and discussion sessions organized by the college departments.
Following up on research published by department faculty members in Arab and international journals, documenting them, and informing the University Presidency / Office of the Scientific Assistant about publications in internationally recognized journals with impact factors.
Compiling statistics on books authored by faculty members in the scientific departments.
Encouraging faculty members to participate in the Higher Education Award through follow-up and facilitating the required procedures.
Following up on the external activities of teaching staff and faculty members at the college.
