
The College of Education for Humanities Organizes a Workshop on LinkedIn as a Strategic Tool for Connecting Humanities Graduates to the Private Sector Job Market
The Career Development and Employment Unit, in cooperation with the English Department at the College of Education for Humanities, University of Diyala, organized a workshop on LinkedIn as an effective strategic tool for connecting humanities graduates to the private sector job market, in light of the rapid digital transformation witnessed in the employment sector.The workshop, presented by Assistant Lecturer Omar Hatem Ghanima, focused on the importance of building a professional digital presence that contributes to expanding networks, exploring job opportunities, and effectively marketing skills.The workshop addressed the platform’s role in showcasing skills and experience interactively, facilitating communication with academics and recruitment professionals, and providing job search tools, alerts, and opportunities for continuous learning. It also discussed how to reshape the professional image of humanities graduates to highlight their analytical, communication, and research skills, and to translate theoretical knowledge into practical outputs that meet market needs.The workshop also addressed the role of LinkedIn as an effective strategic tool for connecting humanities graduates to the private sector job market, in light of the rapid digital transformation witnessed in the employment sector. The workshop addressed the legal aspects of using the platform, emphasizing the need to adjust privacy settings and read the terms of use to protect personal data, maintain the accuracy of information, respect intellectual property rights, and ensure compliance with labor laws and equal opportunities in recruitment processes.The workshop concluded with a set of recommendations, most notably integrating LinkedIn training into university programs and promoting a culture of digital professional identity among students and graduates. This contributes to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 8 (decent work and economic growth) by empowering and equipping young people for effective integration into the labor market.
