
Under the slogan “Postgraduate Research: Sustainable Development to Serve Society,” the College of Education for Humanities held its fourth annual postgraduate conference.
Dr. Luay Sayhood Al-Tamimi, and in the presence of several deans and academic figures, the College of Education for Humanities held its fourth annual postgraduate conference.The conference began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the playing of the national anthem while standing, and the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah in remembrance of the martyrs of Iraq and the martyrs of Diyala University. During the opening of the Fourth Scientific Conference for Postgraduate Studies, University President Professor Dr. Tahseen Hussein Mubarak stated that the College of Education for Humanities is among the first colleges at the university to hold scientific conferences that contribute to and enhance the status of both professors and students. He added that these conferences also help resolve outstanding issues, particularly in the fields of commerce, industry, transportation, roads, and other services. He commended the staff of Diyala University for their teamwork in ensuring the success of these scientific conferences. He further emphasized the necessity of supporting university staff in accordance with their financial entitlements and the provisions of the constitution and applicable laws, while safeguarding their legitimate rights. He noted that the university administration has worked diligently over the past three decades to serve its faculty and staff without infringing upon their legitimate rights.In his address, the Dean of the College and Head of the Scientific Conference, Professor Dr. Luay Sayhood Al-Tamimi, affirmed that this conference constitutes a robust scientific platform for the exchange of ideas and research expertise, opening new horizons for researchers and graduate students. This strengthens rigorous scientific research and connects it to the needs of society and the requirements of sustainable development. He added that it also reflects the commitment of academic institutions to establishing the scientific method as a tool for intellectual and cultural advancement, and for building a future based on knowledge and responsibility. He commended the efforts exerted in preparing for this conference, noting that its scientific outcomes represent an important step in advancing academic research and enhancing its role in serving humanity and building a more aware society capable of facing challenges.In his address to the conference, Professor Dr. Abdul Rahman Idris Saleh, Head of the Scientific Committee, explained that the rapidly evolving challenges facing the world can only be addressed through science and research, by exchanging perspectives among the creative minds of young researchers who possess the potential to excel in the field of scientific research. He emphasized that this conference serves as a bridge for intellectual exchange between promising young generations and those experienced in the scientific research environment.The conference included a research paper on the semantic impact of lexical relationships in literary discourse. This paper analyzed Emily Brontë’s novel *Wuthering Heights* from a semantic perspective, confirming that lexical relationships play a significant role in a deeper understanding of the novel’s characters and themes.At the conclusion of the conference, the University President and the Dean of the College honored the participating postgraduate students and the heads of the Scientific and Preparatory Committees with the Creativity and Excellence Shield in recognition of their valuable contributions to the success of the Fourth Scientific Conference for Postgraduate Studies. The conference is being held in line with the fourth, eleventh and thirteenth goals of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals, which stipulate quality education, climate action and sustainable cities and communities.
