
College of Education for Humanities Holds Scientific Seminar on the Fundamentals of Scientific Research
The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences at the College of Education for Humanities, University of Diyala, held a scientific seminar entitled “Fundamentals of Scientific Research.” The seminar aimed to promote a culture of scientific research among students and researchers and to highlight its importance in developing knowledge and building a scientific community.During the seminar, Dr. Ahmed Suleiman Hassan discussed the concept of scientific research as a systematic intellectual effort that seeks to study problems and phenomena using a scientific and methodical approach to arrive at results that can be used scientifically and practically. The seminar also highlighted the importance of scientific research in developing human knowledge, contributing to solving educational, social, and economic problems, supporting scientific decision-making, and keeping pace with scientific and technological advancements.The seminar also reviewed the characteristics of scientific research, including objectivity, accuracy, organization, reliance on the scientific method, verifiability, reproducibility, scientific cumulative effect, and building upon previous studies. The seminar addressed key scientific research methodologies, such as descriptive, experimental, historical, and analytical approaches. It also covered the steps involved in conducting scientific research, from selecting a topic and defining the problem to formulating hypotheses, data collection and analysis, and finally, writing the research paper and documenting references.In closing, the college emphasized that scientific research represents a scientific way of thinking and a scientific lifestyle that contributes to building the individual and society, and enhances the quality of education and academic research, in line with Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education.
