Under the patronage of the University President, Professor Dr. Tahseen Hussein Mubarak, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, Professor Dr. Luay Sayhood Al-Tamimi, the Continuing Education Division at the College, in cooperation with the Najaf Al-Ashraf Service Association, held a dialogue seminar entitled “The University’s Role in Serving the Community.” The seminar was attended by a number of faculty members, students, and those interested in academic and community affairs.The seminar, whose themes were discussed by Professor Dr. Hassanein Jaber Al-Hilou, Director of the Kufa Studies Center at the University of Kufa, addressed the responsibility of academic institutions in promoting community development and building effective communication channels with civil society organizations, as well as instilling a culture of volunteer work and community initiatives among students. It was also emphasized that the university is no longer merely an educational institution, but has become a key partner in identifying societal problems and proposing sound scientific solutions for them.[The seminar was organized by the College of Education for Humanities in cooperation with the Najaf Al-Ashraf Service Association and attended by a number of faculty members, students, and those interested in academic and community affairs.] The symposium expanded its focus to include mechanisms for directing scientific research to address real-world issues facing society, and the activation of training and consulting programs offered by colleges to state institutions. It also highlighted the importance of engaging students in field and awareness-raising activities that develop their skills and foster a sense of citizenship and responsibility. Speakers emphasized the necessity of integrating the roles of education, scientific research, and community service to ensure a sustainable developmental impact.This symposium is part of the Continuing Education Division’s activities aimed at supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), by expanding institutional cooperation to serve the community and achieve comprehensive development.
