
College of Education for Humanities Holds Vigil to Commemorate the Speicher Massacre
The College of Education for Humanities at Diyala University held a vigil to commemorate the martyrs of the Speicher massacre. The vigil was attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Luay Sayhood Al-Tamimi, and a number of faculty members and staff.The vigil included the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah in remembrance of the martyrs and their immense sacrifices in defense of the homeland. Attendees emphasized the importance of upholding the values of loyalty and gratitude for the sacrifices of Iraq’s sons, who exemplified the most magnificent acts of heroism and selflessness.The Dean noted that commemorating this anniversary embodies adherence to national memory and strengthens the spirit of belonging and responsibility towards the nation. It also serves to recall the heroic stances taken by the martyrs in confronting terrorism.At the conclusion of the vigil, those present reiterated the necessity of drawing lessons and inspiration from these historical events and prayed for mercy and forgiveness for all of Iraq’s martyrs. The stand comes in line with the sixteenth Sustainable Development Goal, which is peace, justice and strong institutions, by promoting the values of social peace, preserving national memory and rejecting violence and extremism.
