
On the Occasion of World Heritage DayCollege of Education for Humanities Holds Knowledge Gallery Festival
On the occasion of World Heritage Day, the Student Activities Division at the College of Education for Humanities, University of Diyala, in cooperation with the Badhraia Volunteer Team of the Directorate of Youth and Sports in Diyala Governorate, held its cultural festival entitled “Knowledge Gallery,” with the participation of a number of faculty members and students.The festival, which was inaugurated by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Luay Sayhood Al-Tamimi, included various activities such as an exhibition of cultural and heritage books, artworks that embodied cultural identity, and cultural presentations that highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting cultural heritage among future generations. The festival witnessed wide interaction from attendees and students, who praised the level of organization and the richness of the activities that reflected the depth of history and heritage.The festival included a panel discussion entitled “Reading: The Foundation of Societal Advancement,” presented by Dr. Sheikh Hamed Jabbar Al-Hamdani. He emphasized that the first commandment given to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was to read, explaining that reading is the cornerstone of building awareness and developing the mind. He pointed out that the mind is the inner voice of humanity, and that its true nourishment lies in reading and knowledge. He cited the opinions of several psychologists who affirm the importance of reading in shaping a person’s character, urging students to commit to daily reading, especially during these crucial academic stages. He also stressed the importance of combining reading and writing, given their significant impact on solidifying information and developing intellectual abilities.This activity contributes to achieving the eleventh Sustainable Development Goal (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by protecting and preserving cultural heritage and strengthening community identity.
