
College of Education for Humanities Holds a Scientific Seminar on Environmental Awareness on Campus
The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences at the College of Education for Humanities, University of Diyala, held a scientific seminar entitled “Environmental Awareness on Campus Among University Students.”The seminar, presented by Lecturer Firdous Kadhim Abdul, addressed the importance of environmental awareness in building a responsible university student character. She emphasized that protecting the environment on campus is a fundamental step towards promoting public health and quality of life. The lecturer also reviewed the most important environmentally sound practices that should be adopted, including waste sorting, conserving water and electricity, and reducing the use of plastics.The seminar aimed to instill a sustainable environmental culture among students and encourage them to adopt volunteer initiatives that contribute to creating a clean, safe, and human-friendly university environment. It also aimed to strengthen the sense of shared responsibility in preserving the beauty of the campus and its facilities. The symposium concluded with a set of recommendations calling for the launch of continuous awareness campaigns, the provision of waste sorting containers, and the activation of the role of university media in spreading environmental culture, in line with achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, especially the thirteenth goal related to climate action, and supporting efforts aimed at building a conscious and sustainable university community.
